Solarway donates 10,000 lanterns to health workers fighting Ebola
In the fight to stop and contain the devastating Ebola epidemic that has spread across Africa, limited access to light is a great challenge for Health Workers. Solarway is assisting the fight by donating our solar powered lanterns to the region.
So far, we have provided 5,000 lanterns to Last Mile Health Liberia and 5,000 to Medical Research Centre Sierra Leone. Solarway CEO Marco Signorini stated in a recent interview, “Watching the epidemic unfold on the news and seeing how aid workers could really benefit from our help using solar lights, not only did we want to help, we needed to.
The lanterns have provided a safe and effective way to assist Health Workers in West Africa and with Solarway’s strong presence on the continent it has made it easy for us to quickly reach those in need. Each lantern can provide up to 20 hours of bright light from a single charge and with the ability to charge mobile phones it makes them a valuable piece of equipment assisting aid workers in the fight against Ebola.
